Nasi karabu or blue rice is commonly eaten in Kelantan, Malaysia. The blue color comes from butterfly pea (telang) flowers. Although telang grows widely in Indonesia, it is not widely recognized as food. Telang flower is tasteless and odorless. It is great for tea, stir fry, or salad.

Here´s how I make my blue rice:

1. Rinse one cup of rice.

2. Boil 10 crushed telang flowers in 3 cups of water until 1/3 of the water evaporates.

3. Use 2 cups of the blue water to cook the rice.
