Poffertjes

Poffertjes is a Dutch pancake. However unlike the regular pancake, poffertjes is small and round. Due to the Dutch colonialization in the past, poffertjes in well known in several cities Indonesia, especially in Semarang, Central Java.

Recipe:

1. mix 250 ml of warm milk, 1 tsp of yeast, 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 eggs, a pinch of salt, and 1.5 cup of flour

2. when they are well incorporated, add 1 tbs of melted butter or margarine

3. let it rise for 30 minutes

4. heat the poffertjes maker over medium low fire and coat with butter/vegetable oil

5. pour the batter to the maker, when one side turns brown, turn around the poffertjes to create a ball

6. serve with icing sugar, cream, chocolate sauce, or jam
