Getas
Getas was my childhood´s favorite cake. It was sold door to door by a lady. I usually don´t bother to make homemade getas myself. I can always buy it in a nearby market. However my Malaysian friend, Masinah, inspired me to make getas my own.
Recipe:
1. mix 1 cup of glutenous rice flour
1 cup of shredded cocunut
1/2 cup of water (more or less)
a pinch of salt
1 tbs of sugar
2. keep the mixed dough in a refrigerator for 30 minutes - 1 hour
3. shape the dough into any shape you like (mine is oval)
4. fry them in medium low heat until they are golden brown
5. heat 3 tbs of sugar and 1 tbs of water in a separate pan
6. when the sugar caramelized, toss the fried getas into the sugar
7. let it cool and serve
