Sweet Potato Rose Pao
Inspired by the Chinese pao/steamed bun which is usually eaten with bacon in soy sauce and greens, I made the similar pao using sweet potato today.
I accidentally put baking soda in the dough and it ruined the rose bun color. But it tasted soft and yummy nevertheless.
Recipe: 1. mix 1 cup mashed sweet potato, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 cup flour, 1/4 cup vegetable oil, a pinch of salt, 1/2 sachet dry yeast, and 1/2 cup water for 15 minutes with high powered mixer 2. cut the dough into small balls. Let them raise for 15 minutes 3. flat the dough balls and arrange them to make the rose petals (see pictures below) 4. let the roses rise for another 20 minutes 5. boil water in a steamer. When it boils, steam the bun for 12 minutes
