On the Way to Karimun Jawa Islands

We reached Jepara on July 14, 2013, at 11 pm. It was quite a nice car trip from Semarang to Jepara. The road was small but smooth and the traffic was not very heavy. We straightly went to Kota Baru hotel to stay overnight before leaving for Karimun Jawa islands in the next morning.

Kota Baru hotel is a small budget Balinese "wannabe" hotel within the area of the Jepara harbor. An air-conditioned room with a clean bathroom costed US$ 12 a night. (I lost the pictures I took in the hotel.) Other than the mosquitoes, I had nothing to complain about this hotel.

The next morning we took a ferry to go to Karimun Jawa. It costed us just around 3 US$ to ride the Ferry but it took more than 6 hours to reach Karimun Jawa from Jepara. Other express ships were not available on that morning. The ferry ride was a nightmare.

There were not any nice restaurants in the harbor. There were only two stalls that sold Indonesian foods. I bought a vegetarian breakfast for Rp. 5.000 (50 cents). I am glad I did because the food option was worse in the ferry.
